My journey
I work across software development, business systems and IT management — usually on the whole build, from the data model through the interface to deployment and the support that follows.
Most of what I build starts as somebody's real problem: a school running admissions on paper, a shop tracking stock in a notebook, civic information that exists but nobody can reach. I care more about software that gets used than software that demos well.
Alongside development I lead IT at an education institute, and I have a background in editorial and accounting work that still shapes how I approach systems — carefully, and with the boring parts done properly.
I don't just write code. I understand problems, design solutions, build products and ship them.
